I often hate my job, but sometimes the visuals are nice.

The control pod (pump, switches, release, tank) on that nearest lift is nearly the same as the one in the second bay at my place the Ranchero is on - but on yours, the posts are
splayed?
Huh. Never seen one set up like that before.

Me too, most of the time. I’ve spent my whole life as a wrench, now I’m in the office. Never go full office.

Yes it is, 5 racks in about 3000sq/ft. It’s a tight fit.

Haha, I’ve always hated in ground racks, ever since the piece of shit single-post in my high school auto shop.

Both the ones in my dad’s shop are parallel post - one has offset brackets to enable the arms to swing “out of the way” the same direction like your canted post one, and the other has brackets swinging away opposite directions. Most or all of the ones I’ve seen in this area of the two-post kind are parallel - it may be a regional thing.

Maybe. All of these lifts are 10 years old or less, we used to have older parallel posts but they were becoming a maintenance headache and didn’t have low enough arm clearance for many newer cars so we gradually upgraded to these. We still have one old parallel post Rotary but its days are numbered.

I like that Uly and I went straight for talking about the lifts, and not, y’know, the fucking
Porsche in the bay.

Cantech Automotive in Syracuse NY, jus a contracted marketing consultancy they rarely (never) let me touch the cars haha. ‘Tis a magical place piloted by enthusiasts. It shook the whole building.
Still my favsest thing recently was watching a gaggle of 356's at Watkins glen bare down on each other though turns and wiggle the back ends during their big vintage event.

Very cool, sounds like a much more interesting environment than this. I love the ‘Glen, I got to work there last summer and had never been before, but I didn’t get to see much of the facility other than paddock and pitlane. Hope to make it back, it’s beautiful.

Super groovy where were you workin in the glen? Using your legs to get around WGI is way overrated I don’t blame you, when I’m there I either don’t have time to wander around or am just too lazy. Also where’s your shop it looks happily busy

I was wrenching for a Lamborghini Super Trofeo team, and when you’re on that kind of schedule there’s rarely time to look around. I miss being a spectator sometimes. Business is good for us lately, it was unusually slow before the holidays but has been good since the New Year. It’ll slow down again for tax time. I run the place and do most of the repair orders, but I hate paperwork and customer service is, well, customer service.

Awesome sauce to all of that. Shame the Supe trofeo was one of the few weekends I wasn’t up there helping out in the tower. Its definitely on my list this season I recorded most of the 2nd half of the championship and can’t think of anything I didn’t like. Ah customer service... An enigma turducken, practically an art. Once I felt like I had a petty good handle after slinging Audi’s in my last job...once
